2000s to Today: MedTech and AgeTech Design

As our partners in medtech and agetech strive to set new benchmarks in medtech and health and wellness product design, they leverage Sundberg-Ferar’s expertise to tackle their innovation challenges. Our approach prioritizes functionality, safety, and the emotional and psychological needs of users, resulting in products that are not only effective and reliable but also comforting and easy to use.

One of our most exciting collaborations is with Bio-Rad acquisition, Celsee, whose system for single-cell analysis showcases our shared passion for human-centered design. This system, which allows for precise and efficient analysis of individual cells, features user-friendly interfaces and ergonomic design, making complex processes simpler and more accessible. In additon to these features, Sundberg-Ferar developed the complete screen interface of the system from defining the requirements of the system to designing and prototyping the full UI. This project highlights the seamless integration of advanced technology with intuitive design, and the success of Celsee’s partnerships with Sundberg-Ferar, ensuring that their groundbreaking work is supported by equally groundbreaking usability.

Our forward-thinking approach has deep roots. In the early 2000s, Stryker partnered with Sundberg-Ferar to design the InTouch critical care bed. This bed set new standards in medical equipment with features like all new user interface, touch-screen controls, intuitive interfaces, and integrated systems for patient monitoring and management. These innovations were aimed at reducing human error, improving patient outcomes, and streamlining hospital operations—reflecting a deep understanding of the complexities and demands of critical care environments.

These are just some of the successful partnerships we’ve enjoyed in our joint pursuit of exceptional design. Other success stories span partnerships with Terumo, Medtronic, Obi, FlexDex Surgical, Freestyle Partners, NuSkin, and more.

Our history of successful partnerships demonstrates that by working together, we can achieve revolutionary outcomes. We focus on enhancing the user experience across various healthcare settings from digital to physical interfaces, ensuring that our designs meet the highest standards of functionality, safety, and usability.

As the landscape of medical UX continues to evolve from the hospital to the home and AgeTech and Remote Patient Monitoring take center stage, we remain dedicated to partnering with forward-thinking clients to create innovative solutions that advance the field of medtech and agetech design.
