A HUGE congratulations to our dear teammate, friend, and now the newest inductee into the IDSA Academy of Fellows, Jeevak Badve, FIDSA!! We are overjoyed to see you receive such high honor. It’s well deserved, and we couldn’t be more proud to work alongside you daily to “make every design a bit better and a bit more beautiful”.
IDSA (or the Industrial Design Society of America)’s Academy of Fellows recognizes IDSA members who have earned the respect and affection of their community through distinguished service to the society and to the profession as a whole. In many cases, these individuals have dedicated a lifetime of service to the betterment of the design community, and Jeevak epitomizes this image.
Jeevak has been a beloved member of IDSA for more than a decade. He served on the IDSA Board of Directors from 2011-2016, the IDSA Conference Committee from 2015-2016, and was Chair of the International Design Conference, “Design IS Business” in 2017. With the Michigan IDSA chapter, he started out as Secretary in 2009, rose to Co-Chair and Chair in 2010, and became VP of the Central District in 2011. Through his efforts organizing multiple District Conferences and an IDC, Jeevak has spoken to a large percentage of the IDSA community.
To us here, he is our fearless VP of Strategic Growth at Sundberg-Ferar, the 2nd longest standing independent industrial design firm in the nation, where he also hosts monthly industrial design thinking seminars for business leaders worldwide. Click here to learn more about his seminars.
One of his nominators wrote, “Jeevak is absolutely magnetic as an evangelist for our profession and its connection to business and innovation. His personal story of coming to America and finding his way into practice here is inspiring. In the truest sense of the words, he found his way, in good part, by connecting with and through IDSA and the network it provided to him. In return, Jeevak has contributed his knowledge, energy, and great spirit as a rising leader in the profession and most certainly in the Society.”
Jeevak is overwhelmed by this great honor, and writes:
“Thank you to my design family. I am immensely humbled by getting inducted into the IDSA Society as a Fellow, the very apogee of the design thought-leadership spectrum. It is a huge honor and privilege to now be amongst those very few whom I have always looked to, and studied and learnt from. This is certainly not my last stop at the IDSA station, or in the design community; rather it is a huge motivation to build brand new tracks to extend this delightful journey – a design journey like no other! As I’ve said: Hands-down, Industrial Design is the best job in the world! And I am loving it.”
