Genesis: Education

First things first: What IS the Genesis™ blueprint and why should I care?

Sundberg-Ferar’s Genesis™: Education innovation blueprint is our proprietary set of techniques used to identify trends, discover unmet needs, synthesize conclusions, and realize innovation pathways that lead to tangible solutions. Our Genesis process is the best way clients can dive into future opportunities to establish ideal consumer experiences, confidently develop solutions, and assess high opportunity innovation pathways to set up future tactical plans.

Sundberg-Ferar’s Innovation Strategy techniques ensure that your organization is prepared and tactically poised to create and develop solutions for yourself or your stakeholders. Your resources are too valuable to be spent solving the wrong problems and developing solutions people don’t need. Our Genesis™ strategy experts consider external and internal variables that may impact your organization to uncover unmet needs and define tactical initiatives to fulfill your future objectives.

gen·e·sis /ˈjenəsəs/ noun
1. the origin or mode of formation of something.

Creating truly impactful education solutions is about understanding ideal experiences and optimizing the tools and resources available to deliver completely new solutions that consider and empower all involved stakeholders. Saving time is one important attribute that helps educators and learners, but we all know people are willing to put in more time to something they feel ownership over. Getting to the root of education products and services that builds ownership is just one example how thoughtful research and meaningful design can target solutions that are fully embraced and move the needle.

This type of innovation requires insights that begin at the genesis of the users’ needs and wants. This is what human-centered design is. Our Genesis™ team gets to the root of the opportunity to properly grow solutions on a fruitful foundation.

Case Study

Michigan Virtual

A great example of our Genesis team making an impact in the world of education was right at the height of the early pandemic when schools were shutting down and moving to 100% remote models. Our team was already supporting education efforts in Michigan, and we got on the phone with our friends at Michigan Virtual, who are leaders in remote learning, and discussed how to make the most of living prototype going on in homes around the state. We developed a broad stakeholder interview strategy and quickly learned from parents, student, teachers, and administrators all over the state. Identifying immediate struggles was one point of reference, but the amazing thing about this situation is that so many paradigms were shattered, and participants were able to take a step back and articulate what an ideal future of education could look like. Our team, with Michigan Virtual, strategized new tools and services for the near-term and re-envisioned their long-term roadmap, setting a course for improved learning all over the state. Read more.

Teachers may not think of themselves as designers, but they are constantly empathizing with their students, iterating new solutions, and working to solve functional and emotional problems to maintain a classroom learning environment that builds trust and confidence.
