This short film by the Michigan Design Council will premier at the College for Creative Studies’ Taubman Center on September 26th as part of Detroit Month of Design.

For those of you who may not know, Michigan boasts a higher concentration of industrial designers than any other state in the country, with over 4000 employees in the profession. Our designers enrich our state with their innovative spirit not just in the studio, but across our economy and communities. Michigan is the “State of Design”, and it’s time we shared the fascinating journeys of our designers. Our teammate and friend, Matt, embodies the characteristic innovative spirit of our state’s industrial design talent, and we are thrilled to see his story being spotlighted on September 26th.

The Michigan Design Council (MDC) aims to establish Michigan as the definitive destination for industrial designers and those in related profession. It also works to help the state’s businesses and economy prosper, and to attract more businesses to Michigan by virtue of the state’s industrial design talent. “The State of Design” documentary is just one of their many initiatives to this end, and was conceived by David Byron, President of the MDC, and Sundberg-Ferar’s Manager of Design and Innovation Strategy.
