January 1st, 2019 marks the beginning of a leadership transition for us at Sundberg-Ferar. Grey Parker, David Thimm and Jeevak Badve are stepping up to receive the reins of company ownership from Curt Bailey and Jeff Deboer. Both Curt and Jeff will continue to be with the studio in the capacity of senior advisors. Curt and Jeff have established a solid foundation for us in the design community and we are honored and excited to carry the torch forward by continuing to deliver leading edge innovation through product design and development at Sundberg-Ferar.
Curt and Jeff have spent over 33 years upholding the company’s legacy as a pioneer of Industrial Design in America and as a source of innovation in product design across the globe. They both joined SF within two years of each other and over the next decade, they became a formidable leadership team for the studio. Curt and Jeff have established SF as a full-service product design and development consultancy, and since the early 90s, they’ve expanded SF’s capabilities to include Industrial Design, Design Research, Innovation Strategy (Genesis™ process), HMI/ GUI Design, Engineering, and cutting-edge Prototyping and production technologies. By their vision and expertise, Sundberg-Ferar’s portfolio has seen the addition of new categories of projects. For example, complex medical product design and the application of Industrial Design Thinking in developing strategies and initiatives for Michigan’s state government.
Now, in the company’s 85th year, Grey has inherited Curt’s role and become SF’s fourth President since 1934. Grey will take the title CEO, and will manage company operations in addition to inspiring technical innovation through his ongoing role as Director of Engineering. David will continue to serve as Director of Industrial Design, a role that has proven invaluable to SF over the past 15 years and one that sustains and enhances our Industrial Design heritage. Jeevak provides innovation thought-leadership to clients across the country and the globe. He champions SF’s presence in the industrial design community and strategically strengthens our creative space in the global market. Grey, David, and Jeevak form a powerful and exciting leadership team that represents Industrial Design, Engineering and Strategic Development expertise. All three of these talented individuals have had significant experience at SF and have effectively been running the company for the last several years.
