Jeevak is elected to be on the Board of Directors for the Industrial Design Society of America (IDSA) as Director of Conferences! This is his third time serving on the board. His mission? To help spread the word to this big wide world (and not just the design community) of the wonder that Industrial Design can bring into our daily lives.
You may already know that recently, Jeevak was also inducted into the IDSA Academy of Fellows! Over the course of his career, Jeevak has already devoted countless hours to the organization, including as conference chair for the 2017 International Design Conference (IDC) in Atlanta, “Design IS Business”, and five other previous District Design Conferences – all culminating in this prestigious honor of becoming an IDSA Fellow. Jeevak doesn’t see this as any reason to slow down now, however. As he puts it: “This is certainly NOT the last stop at the IDSA station. Rather, it is a huge motivation to build brand new tracks to extend this delightful journey – a design journey like no other!”
With this spirit, Jeevak takes on his new role on the board. And who better to guide the design community into deeper in-person engagement with each other and with the emergent themes across industries than One who is also Principal of Sundberg-Ferar, the design consultancy that has been part of this community from the beginning?
Sundberg-Ferar is the 2nd longest standing independent industrial design consultancy in the nation, born in Detroit in 1934. The studio has been instrumental in defining the practice and profession of industrial design as we know it today and has influenced the function, assembly, and appearance of consumer and industrial products representing billions of dollars in sales around the world.
From Jeevak’s perspective, he can’t wait to get started: “Conference building is essentially an art,” he says! He plans to use his extensive domain experience to bolster IDSA’s conference programming and meticulously craft experiences that will draw vibrant engagement from our already vibrant design community and beyond across the nation and globe!
