Jeevak, VP and Director of strategic growth at Sundberg-Ferar, will present as a keynote speaker at Aether’s summit, “hi. Humanizing Innovation” on October 2-5 in Chattanooga, TN. This will be the third time Jeevak has been invited to speak at Aether’s unique design education programs.

Owen Foster, John McCabe, and Tom Gattis, co-founders of the organization and of SHiFT design camps, are level-setters in design education. Since 2013, they have created a series of immersive educational programs connecting students and professionals to focus on their holistic personal development as designers and individuals as well as their part in the greater design community.

Since this cause is near and dear to Jeevak himself, speaking at Aether and SHiFT events has always been his absolute favorite. Moreover, the unconventional venues chosen for these programs lend themselves to a truly unique experience as a presenter. For example, so far Jeevak has enjoyed speaking to audiences sitting around a campfire with the expanse of the starry sky as a backdrop, or gathered within the USSRC beneath a real Saturn V rocket!

The venue for October’s summit continues the tradition. Probably the most breathtaking yet, this venue will allow for none of the usual AV aids used by presenters, nor will it allow Jeevak any familiarity with the site beforehand. What does he have to say about it? “I’m a little bit nervous, but more than that I’m extremely happy, excited and looking forward to it!”
The Aether summit is a “un-conference”, catalyzing and inspiring the design community through knowledge transfer, skill building, storytelling and networking. The summit will explore the ways in which companies and organizations are humanizing innovation, and the schedule includes presentations and activities with thought leaders in design including CEOs of design companies like Airstream, The Grommet, and Local Motors – to name a few. Attendees will also get to hear from innovators in other disciplines such as installation art and music as well as experience some of the best food, music, culture and venues that Chattanooga has to offer.
Perhaps the most exciting venue, however, will be the site of Jeevak’s presentation: An underground waterfall! Ruby Falls in Chattanooga is the nation’s largest and deepest underground waterfall located 1,120 feet below the surface of Lookout Mountain. In this dynamic setting, Jeevak will speak on humans’ quest for the unknown. The summit will surely be one to remember. We hope to see you there!
